I must admit Ive been to quite a few weddings before but never has the invitation stated that there is a weight limit for the guests so why on earth do we feel we need to lose weight for a wedding?
Maybe its because we bought our outfit a while ago and weve over done it since then or perhaps its because we know The Ex is going to be there, but more than likely its because we just dont want to look at the photos afterwards as we dont like looking at ourselves in the shape we are currently in.
So what can we do about it?
Can adding steps really help you lose weight? It certainly can. Lets say your weight is currently Stable neither increasing nor decreasing but you feel that youre 10 pounds overweight.
By maintaining your current activities and diet and adding 2,000 steps a day (about 7 miles, or roughly 700 Calories a week), you could lose up to 1 pound every five weeks.
Are certain people destined by their genes to be overweight or obese? The numbers vary greatly, but the heritability of body fat mass and body fat percentage is estimated at around 50%. That means our parents are only partly to blame for our size. Environmental factors, which are within our control, take half the blame.
Medical Causes
Some medical conditions are associated with weight gain. Examples are hypothyroidism (low levels of the thyroid hormone result in a lower metabolic rate), Cushings disease (the adrenal glands overproduce corticosteroid, which stimulates the deposition of fat) and genetic disorders such as Prader-Willi, Bardet-BeidI, Cohen and Alstrom syndromes.

Thats as much as 10 pounds in a year. Although this pace may seem glacial, remember that the weight came on slowly and if you want to lose it for good, it should come off that way, too.
After all, the typical American gains one to two pounds a year for most years of adult life simply reversing that to a modest yearly loss would be a great success.
The proof is in the long-term results.
